A285 Water Leak
Residents may be aware of the ongoing roadside water leak at the north end of the village near to the Catholic Church. The leak has been reported to Southern Water on a number of occasions under several reference numbers. Despite the water continuing to flow, previous reports have subsequently been shown as repaired or closed, which has understandably caused some confusion and concern. West Sussex Highways has also been contacted and has advised that it believes the water is originating from a Southern Water asset on the footpath. Their expectation is that the water further down the hill should stop once the source of the leak has been properly repaired.…

Traffic Calming Update
Speed Indicator Device & Village Gates Duncton Parish Council has been progressing two projects aimed at improving road safety and encouraging drivers to slow down through the village. New Speed Indicator Device (SID) The Council has now ordered a new solar-powered Speed Indicator Device (SID) following approval from West Sussex County Council. The SID will be used between two approved locations within the village, rather than remaining permanently in one position. Moving the device periodically allows us to target different approaches through the village and helps to maintain its effectiveness with regular drivers. New Parish Clerk
Duncton Parish Council is delighted to welcome Monica Huber as our new Parish Clerk. Monica recently moved to Duncton with her partner, Clive, after living in Storrington for the past seven years, seeking a quieter lifestyle working from home and enjoying the surrounding South Downs with their two dogs. Highlights of village life so far include beautiful countryside walks, hearing the hourly church bell and being able to walk to the lovely village pub. Monica says she is thrilled to support the village in her new role as Clerk and would like to thank residents and neighbours for such a warm welcome.

Witness appeal after fatal collision in Petworth
Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Station Road, Petworth, on Thursday evening (22 August). The 28-year-old male driver of a blue Toyota RAV4 sadly died at the scene after being involved in a collision with a tractor and trailer at about 7.20pm. His next of kin have been informed. The tractor driver, a 32-year-old man, was uninjured. If you witnessed the collision, please email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Fogerty.

Village Meeting 30th May 2024
It was great to see so many of you at the meeting last night. The slide deck presented is available below: All suggestions and feedback from the evening was captured and anyone who was not able to make the meeting is welcome to get in touch with any comments or suggestions. Please direct comments to clerk@duncton.org so we can make sure that they are captured and taken into account. Once Parish Council has had a chance to consider all feedback a more detailed (and costed) plan will be proposed.
