New Tier 2 ‘High Alert’ rules now in place West Sussex has been placed in Tier 2. Please help us get the message out about the new tier-2 rules by sharing the following within your community messaging groups (e.g. Whatsapp, Facebook, emails etc.) The new restrictions include: Mixing indoors only with people in the same household or bubble Sticking to the rule of six outdoors (including private gardens) COVID-secure businesses can re-open Spectators will be allowed to watch sport, with a maximum crowd capacity outdoors of 50% of the capacity of the stadium or 2,000 people, whichever is smaller. The government has announced that from Wednesday (December 2), West Sussex will be in Tier 2. Issue 19 | October 2020 New NHS COVID-19 app We are encouraging residents to download the new NHS COVID-19 App to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The app allows you to report symptoms, order a coronavirus test, and check into venues by simply scanning a QR code. Businesses, such as restaurants and pubs, will be legally required to display a QR code poster for people to scan. This means if people visit the venue and later test positive for coronavirus, other app users who were there at the same time may be sent an alert, if necessary. “What if”…..there is a power cut?
Power companies have launched a new national power cut phone line 105 to help people contact their local electricity network company. Callers dialling the free 105 number will be put straight through to their local electricity network operator, avoiding potential confusion or people contacting the wrong organisation. Using the 105 number, electricity customers will be able to report or get information about power cuts and report damage to electricity power lines and substations. Duncton View Point Clearance & Fly Tipping
During the recent clearance at Duncton View Point, it was shocking and upsetting to see how much rubbish has been and still continues to be, dumped at the site. To help with this, the Parish Council has installed a bin at the site and will pay for weekly ongoing collections. There is also new signage at the site and future plans to perhaps fence off the slope. Fly-tipping is the illegal deposit of waste and carries a prison sentence and high fines. Chichester District Council has an enforcement team and is working hard to bring fly tippers to justice. Duncton Community Speed Watch (CSW) Group
Since discussing the busy A285 at the Village Meeting in May 2017, a few residents have asked the Parish Council about CSW which is an initiative that allows local people to monitor vehicle speeds using speed detection devices. Since then, the Parish Council has helped set up Duncton CSW group and we’re looking for volunteers.Any vehicles recorded speeding as part of CSW is not enforceable, however Sussex Police will send warning letters to registered owners of any vehicles that meet the required threshold when driving over the set speed limit and if there is evidence of repeat or excessive offences, enforcement and prosecution will follow. Two potential sites in Duncton have been identified – Coopers Moor and Duncton Common and the Parish Council sent the following comments to WSCC:Further to our Parish Council meeting on 4th March where the Soft Sand Review was discussed, Duncton Parish Council (DPC) would like to submit the following comments in response to the Soft Sand Review Consultation. Duncton Hall and Recreation Ground – posted 10th September 2019
The AGM was held on Wednesday, September 4.Andy Beadsley was re-elected as Treasurer and Alison Pindell Secretary, with Tom Cole agreeing to continue in an acting chairman role. Other Committee members are Peter Thomas, Hilary O’Sullivan and Katharine Minchin, and we are pleased that Louise Exall and Sue Thomas are joining us and will help in organising events. The Hall remains in a good position financially. Turnover in the year to May was just under £21k and a modest surplus was generated. However, the important wedding market has slowed, but we were able to attract other hirers to part compensate. We have continued to progress our Hall improvement programme. Over…
