West Sussex County Council – Stay safe from Covid-19 this winter
“We want everyone across West Sussex to be as safe as possible during the festive period, and throughout the rest of winter. The best way to do that remains the Covid-19 vaccination,” says the Director of Public Health for West Sussex. The eligibility for booster jabs has now been extended by the government to everyone aged 18 and over who had their second dose at least three months ago. People aged 60 and over are now eligible for their COVID vaccination This week people aged 60 to 64 will be starting to receive their invitations to book their COVID jab. Letters will be arriving from the national booking service inviting them to visit www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or call 119 free of charge to arrange their appointment. By following these steps, anyone in this group will be able to book an appointment at the larger vaccination centres or pharmacy led services. Issue 25| February 2021 Latest on COVID-19 Great to see that rates of COVID-19 cases continue to fall in areas of West Sussex but we urge you to act like you have it and #KeepWestSussexSafe. In the seven days to Tuesday 2 February there were 1,795 new cases. This means on average, 256 people are testing positive for COVID-19 each day in West Sussex. However, cases are falling compared to the previous week. The latest data indicates there have been 37,758 cases so far in West Sussex as at Sunday 7th February 2021. Please let your communities know that The Sussex Health and Care Partnership website has details on the rollout, including when they can expect to get their jab and details of vaccination scams to be aware of. The government has announced that from Wednesday (December 2), West Sussex will be in Tier 2.
